Community Guidelines

Imagina is a place to write and play interactive fiction, including dark and adult fiction, with other people around. These guidelines are the short version of what that asks of everyone: creators, players, and anyone who comments or shows up in a party. They apply to every part of the service, on the web and in the mobile apps. The Terms of Service govern your use of the service as a whole; the World Content Policy and the Names and Profiles policy are the detailed rules for those two areas, and this page is the umbrella over them.

The rules

Fiction stays fiction. Stories may be violent, dark, and, behind the adult toggle, sexually explicit. They may not depict sexual content involving minors in any style or framing, may not be built around real identifiable people, and may not hand the real person at the keyboard instructions for harming themselves or others. The full list, with the reasoning and the edge cases, is the World Content Policy. These lines hold for private, unpublished worlds too.
Public surfaces are for everyone. Display names, handles, world covers, titles, descriptions, and comments are seen by people who never turned on adult content, including visitors who are not signed in. Keep them free of sexual content, slurs, harassment, and impersonation. Bios follow the same rule unless the profile is marked as adult. See Names and Profiles.
Adult content lives behind the adult toggle. Worlds rated NSFW are only visible and playable to accounts that enabled adult content in their settings, which requires confirming you are an adult. On a world rated all-ages, the storyteller keeps sex off the page for players who have not enabled it: romance and tension are written, the act itself is not, and a player who keeps pushing is told, out of character, why. The iOS app never offers the adult toggle; an account that enabled it on the web keeps its access there.
Be decent to the people here. No harassment, threats, hate speech, or targeting of other users in comments, party chat, names, bios, or worlds. Comments on an all-ages world are all-ages. Disagreeing with a creator is fine; going after them is not.
No spam, scams, or off-platform solicitation. Comments and bios are not advertising space, and nobody here is selling drugs, weapons, accounts, or sexual services.
One person, one set of accounts, used honestly. Do not impersonate staff, the Imagina brand, other users, or real people. Do not evade a moderation action by making a new account.

How moderation works

Moderation is automated screening plus human review, in that order and never the other way around.

Worlds are scanned when they are published and when a published version is edited: a deny-list for the hard lines, then an AI classifier over the text and images. Flags go to a human moderator; nothing is hidden or changed by the automated layer on its own, and ordinary adult content is left alone.
Names, handles and bios are checked when they are set. A clear violation is refused on the spot; a grey-zone result is accepted and put in front of a moderator.
Comments are reportable by anyone and removable by moderators.
The storyteller itself runs under the content rating of the world and the player's adult setting, on every turn.

Every moderation action is recorded in an append-only log. Moderators hold final discretion on classification and enforcement.

Blocking someone

You can block any user from their creator page (Block creator) or from any of their comments (Block user in the comment menu). Blocking hides their worlds from your browse, hides their comments from you everywhere, and stops them from commenting on your worlds or joining your parties. They are not told. Undo it any time under Blocked content in your profile settings.

Reporting

A world: open it and use Report on its page.
A comment: use Report on the comment.
A profile, a party, or anything else: write to [email protected] with a link.

Reports are reviewed by a person and actioned within 24 hours. Content that breaks a hard line is removed as soon as it is seen. You do not hear back on every report, but every report is read.

What happens when a rule is broken

Depending on what it is and whether it has happened before: the content is edited, hidden from public discovery, or removed (a removed world's link shows a removed-content placeholder); a name or bio is replaced and the owner notified; comments are deleted; repeat or severe violations end in the account being restricted or closed. Sexual content involving minors skips the ladder: immediate removal, a ban, and where the law requires it, a report to the authorities.

Appeals and contact

If you think a moderation action was a mistake, write to [email protected] from the email on your account, with your handle and what was changed. Wrong calls are reversed. For anything else about these guidelines, the same address works.
