Creators can upload music to their library, link albums to their worlds, give a world a theme, give places their own tracks and let story moments change what is playing. Players hear it in the music player while they play, and the soundtrack lists a world's tracks, including the ones you keep locked until they are heard in the story. Imagina converts and stores the files you upload and streams them to the players of the worlds that link them. This page explains what you may upload, what the tracks may contain, and what happens when music is reported. The Terms of Service govern your use of the Service as a whole; this is the detailed version of the music rules in them.

Only upload music you have the rights to

On every upload you confirm that you own the music or have the rights to use it on Imagina, and that confirmation is recorded with the track. It has to be true. Music you can upload:

  • Music you composed or performed yourself.
  • Music you commissioned, when the agreement gives you the right to use it this way.
  • Music under a license that allows use in an online interactive work. A royalty-free library license that covers it, or a Creative Commons license that allows it. Follow the license terms: CC BY requires credit, so put it in the track's credit line. NonCommercial or NoDerivatives licenses may not fit; check before uploading.
  • AI-generated music, only when the tool's terms give you ownership or commercial rights over the output. As an example, Suno's and Udio's paid plans do and their free plans do not. Keep proof of the plan you were on when the track was made.

The credit line on a track is shown in the soundtrack. Use it for the license or the source whenever a license asks for attribution, and whenever you want players to know where a track came from.

What is not allowed

  • Commercial songs, and game, anime or film soundtracks you do not own.
  • Rips from YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud or any other service.
  • Someone else's uploads, re-uploaded to your library.
  • Covers or remixes of someone else's music without their permission.

A "no copyright intended" disclaimer does not make a track allowed, and neither does a "fair use" claim. Credit alone does not give you rights either: naming the artist in the credit line is not permission.

What the tracks may contain

Explicit lyrics are allowed. Sexual vocal sounds are not: moaning, panting and similar sounds used sexually are not allowed in any track, on any world, adult or not.

Titles, artist names, album covers, descriptions and lyrics follow the World Content Policy and the Community Guidelines: no hate, no harassment, nothing sexualizing minors, and the rest of the hard lines apply as they do to a world. Keep in mind that an album cover and its titles are shown to the players of every world that links the album, so they are held to the standard of every one of those worlds.

Reports and removals

Rights holders, and anyone else, can report music to [email protected]. Tell us the world or the album, which tracks are concerned, and what you own. We look at every report. Infringing tracks or albums are removed, and removed music stops playing in the worlds and journeys that used it. A world that lost a track keeps working; the places and beats that pointed at it simply fall silent or fall back to the theme.

Repeat infringement can cost an account its music uploads, or the account itself.

If you think a removal was a mistake, write to the same address with the album or track and why you hold the rights. A wrong call is put back.

Your files and your rights

Uploading does not transfer ownership: the music stays yours. What you give Imagina is what it needs to store, convert and stream the music to the players of your worlds. The full terms are in the Terms of Service.

Keep your own copies of your files. Imagina stores converted versions for playback, not an archive of your originals, and a track that is removed, or an album you delete, is not something we can hand back.
