Can I customize and reuse my character?

Yes. Many worlds let you tweak the character you play as before a journey starts, and you can save a character you like so it's a click away in every world that allows it.

Yes. Many worlds let you tweak the character you play as before a journey starts, and you can save a character you like so it's a click away in every world that allows it.

Customizing your character

When you start a journey on a world that allows it, the character selection screen shows a Customize button on the character you're about to play. Some worlds require it, in which case the button reads Customize to continue and you can't begin until you've filled the basics in.

The Customize Character popup lets you change:

  • Name, age, and description: who this character is.
  • Physical description and appearance: how they look. You can write plain prose or booru tags.
  • Additional appearance: a free-form line for anything extra (for example, "a scar over her left eye, wears a worn leather jacket"). This feeds image generation on worlds that have it.

Click Apply to use your changes for this journey only, or Reset to Original to drop them and play the character as the author wrote it. Customizing one journey never changes the world for anyone else, or your other journeys.

Saving a character to reuse

If you build a character you'd like to play again, click Save character in the Customize popup. It lands in your personal library, and a Load character menu appears in that same popup on future worlds, so you can drop a saved character into any world that allows customization without rebuilding them.

The Load menu also lists characters from past journeys, so even if you never explicitly saved one, you can pull a character you played before back into a new world.

Managing your characters

Your saved characters live on the My Characters page, reachable from the account menu in the top-right corner. There you can:

  • Create a character from scratch, without starting a journey first.
  • Edit a saved character's details.
  • Generate a portrait from a saved character's appearance. The portrait then rides along as your character's image whenever you load them into a world. Portrait generation uses credits.
  • Delete characters you no longer want.

There's a limit on how many characters you can save at once. When you hit it, delete one to make room.

Does every world allow this?

No. Customizing the player character is something each world's author opts into. On worlds that don't allow it, you play the character as written and won't see a Customize button. Worlds that build a journey around a single companion often require customization, so you can define who you are before the story begins.
