Presentation and media
Add texting threads, text effects, extra images, turn images, and immersive presentation to an Imagina RPG world.
These features change how a journey looks and feels. None of them are required to publish. Turn each one on from Gameplay → Features (or Lore, for locations). Configuration stays if you turn a feature off later.
Texting threads
Texting Threads (beta) render in-story messages as phone-style bubbles with portraits.
The narrator writes a :::texts block, or a single :msg line, and the play screen shows a thread instead of quoted texts in prose. Use it when the world actually has phones, implants, or another diegetic messenger. Leave it off for pre-modern settings.
The Features hub has a live example using your first named NPC.
Text effects
Text Effects let capable models use inline flourishes in narration and in your introduction: glow, burn, void, whisper, shaky, glitch, flicker, static. You enable categories to match the world's tone. Italics, bold, and scene separators still work with effects off.
Players can disable animation in their own settings. That never changes the words. Details: Why does the story sometimes glow or flicker?.
Extra images
Gameplay → Extra Images is a gallery of up to 10 landscape images. They are not sent to the AI. You choose when they appear:
- In the introduction, with
::scene[label] - In the description, up to two images (description-image beta)
- From a story beat's Show scene image effect
16:9 works best. Uploads are resized to fit 1280×720 and saved as WebP. The Extra Images list shows whether each file is referenced yet.
Turn images
Turn Images (beta) generate an illustration with a turn when the AI thinks the moment is worth picturing: a first meeting, a reveal, a new place.
They are off until you enable them on the world and the player allows automatic images on the journey. Manual generation from a turn menu always works.
You pick Anime or Realistic, plus optional image guidance (100 characters). That hint steers which turns get an image and how they look. Each automatic image costs about 10 credits on top of the turn. Existing journeys do not pick up the flag. Only new ones do.
Full player-facing notes: What are AI-generated turn images?.
Beats can also force a scene image or spotlight a character gallery image, independent of the AI's usual rhythm.
Locations on screen
With location awareness on:
- Scene transition cards insert a location card when the scene moves, with the location's image when you set one.
- Location images as backdrop replace the play background at that location. The world background is the fallback. Players can turn this off. Immersive mode always uses location backdrops.
Immersive mode
Immersive mode is not a toggle. It unlocks when the art is ready:
- A world background image
- At least one NPC (more on larger casts) with 3 or more SFW gallery images whose labels start with
sprite
Players then get a visual-novel layout: sprite cutouts on stage over the background, dialogue in front. You can default the player character onto the stage too, once that PC has sprite images.
Immersive-capable worlds earn a higher revenue share. See How does creator revenue share work?.
Character galleries
NPC and player-character galleries do more than look pretty:
- Portraits appear on the roster, in texting threads, and on spotlight images.
- Images labeled
spriteunlock immersive mode. - Extra looks can be swapped by a Set character outfit beat.
Keep SFW sprites if you want immersive mode. NSFW gallery images are fine on adult worlds. They do not count toward the sprite requirement.
