Changelog

October 12, 2026

Journeys

  • New beta, on by default: automatic turn recalling. Before each turn, the storyteller looks back through older parts of your journey for moments related to what you just did, so it remembers details from far back in the story. Because it adds those moments to the turn as extra context, turns can cost a little more. You can turn it off in Settings > Gameplay. The option will go away once the feature is stable.

Codex

  • Story underlines for Codex entries are more careful: a short name that is also an ordinary word ("on cue" for a character called Cue) or a stat in a skill check no longer links to the entry. Such names are checked against their sentence once the turn is finished, so their underline can appear a moment later.

World editor

  • Choices and player input answers can now show images and sprites directly: scene images, character images, portrait changes and sprite show/hide work under "When the player answers".
  • "Write character sheet row" can now set a character's Level, Class, Race or Title through the sheet's Identity table, for the player or an NPC.

October 11, 2026

Images

  • Updated how a journey's image generation style is computed: the explicit style picked in the journey settings always applies.

Profile

  • Show off your favorite world achievements on your profile, and find every achievement you unlocked on your new achievements page.

World editor

  • NPCs and player characters now have private author notes: jot down plans and reminders for a character. Players and the storyteller never see them, but Ask Ima and the AI refiner read them for context.
  • Every part of a world now has a clear size limit, the same in the editor and everywhere else. Saving something over a limit is no longer cut short behind your back: the editor tells you which fields to shorten. Your existing worlds keep what they already have; you just can't grow a field that is already over its limit. If a limit gets in your way, contact an admin.

October 10, 2026

Images

  • Introducing the Imagina 1 image model. For now, it is based on Krea, but will evolve in the future as technology improves! This replaces the Imagina Krea style.
  • Image Lab prompt sidebar got a facelift

World editor

  • Character sprite generation has been redone with a more guided flow. Old way is still accessible for the time being.
  • Story beats can now write fixed character sheet rows, like HP on the Overview table.

October 9, 2026

Models

  • Xiaomi MiMo 2.6 Flash is out of early access and replaces MiMo 2.5. Your MiMo 2.5 journeys continue on 2.6 Flash automatically.
  • Xiaomi MiMo 2.6 Pro replaces MiMo 2.5 Pro. Your MiMo 2.5 Pro journeys continue on 2.6 Pro automatically.

World editor

  • The editor now has one navigation, the outline. The Classic hub and Group panel options are gone.
  • All fields is now Infinite scroll: every section in one long page, with the outline following along as you scroll. Pick it from the editor's menu.

October 8, 2026

Play

  • Streaming is steadier: a reply should no longer rewrite itself in front of you while the AI sorts out a dice roll, and the AI gets stuck in fewer retry loops in that situation.
  • The turn debugger now shows what the AI did on each step, as icons next to its reasoning, with the actions the game refused in red. When the story was rewritten while streaming, you can read the drafts that were thrown away and why.

World editor

  • Previous generations got a bigger, cleaner grid that works on phones, and you can now delete the images you don't want. Open one to see it large, send it to the Image Lab, or delete it.
  • Images you generate now remember the prompt they were made from. Open one in Previous generations to read it and restore those settings in the generator in one click.

Home

  • Turning off Show NSFW content on the home page now also hides your NSFW journeys from Jump back in.

Messages

Texting threads got a big upgrade.

  • Photos. Characters can send you a picture of themselves in a text thread. It comes from their sprites, never generated.
  • Beyond phones. Threads have new looks for telepathy, sending stones and scrying mirrors, so fantasy worlds get their own "texting" too.
  • Emails and letters. Written mail gets its own card: an inbox message, or a sheet of paper with a signature and an optional wax seal.
  • Mystery senders. A text from an unknown number or an unsigned letter keeps its sender a secret, and a corrupted signal can scramble the sender's name.

For authors: turn on Texting Threads in your world and the storyteller picks the right one for the scene. You can also write them by hand in your introduction (see the Markdown guide).

Play

  • Added a notepad: personal notes to help you keep track of what you want. Synced between your computer and phone. Find it in the side panel (or behind the notes button under the action box on phones), and pop it out to keep it floating next to the story. Your notes are never sent to the AI.
  • The / button under the action box is now a quote button (typing / still lists the commands): it adds a pair of quotes and puts your cursor inside, or puts quotes around the selected text (tap again to remove them).
  • Discreet mode hides the pictures in a journey at once: the background, the character art, and every image in the story, the opening, endings, the Storybook and the side panels. Hidden images leave a placeholder you can tap or click to show just that one. Turn it on from the journey menu (the ... button, or the journey sheet on phones), or press F2 on a computer. It turns itself off when you reload the page.
  • Added experimental support for Haiku 5.5 for journeys and Ask Ima.
  • Codex links in the story now also find characters by their first or last name alone: "Elena" or "Voss" opens Elena Voss's entry. A name two characters share is left alone.

World editor

  • Worlds can now hold 30 extra images, up from 20. This system will be reworked soon into a global image budget per world.
  • New story variables: trackers only your story beats read and change, hidden from both the player and the AI. Use Add variable in any tracker list.
  • Ask Ima improvements. Longcat stays free in it for a bit longer.
  • Lots of UI/UX improvements and additions to story beats.
  • New Show character card beat effect: a character's card appears after the story on the turn the beat fires, as a card, a slim one-line strip or a big centered banner, on any world. Put it in the same beat as a rename and the old name shows struck through above the new one, perfect for a true name reveal.

Image Lab

  • Extra images can be picked from the Image Lab: open the arrow next to Upload in the Extra Images section. The aspect ratio that fits them is labeled Play background, extra image in the Lab.

Achievements

Achievements

Achievements are here!

  • Authors can now add up to 30 achievements to their worlds. They are unlocked via endings or story beats.
  • Not sure where to start? Ask Ima! It has been taught about them and will suggest some (we suggest using a stronger model than Longcat for this). Or ask around on Discord :)
  • Hidden achievements don't disclose anything until unlocked.
  • Achievements are unlocked forever, even if you reroll a turn, rollback or start a new playthrough. Find your progress on the world cards.

More features around achievements will be coming later! Creator guide coming soon.

Models

  • Added Mistral 4 Large. Caveats: thinking doesn't work yet and prompt caching looks broken.

October 5, 2026

Narration (beta)

  • Turns can now be read aloud, like an audiobook: a narrator reads the story, and every character speaks their lines in their own voice, kept from one turn to the next. Pick the narrator, tell it how to read, and choose a voice for each character from the Voice tab of your journey settings. How it works.
  • Narration is half off until 2027-01-01
  • Free pool cannot be used

Codex

  • Your world's characters are now in the Codex on their own, with their portrait and public description: players find each one once they meet them in the story, and the characters on your public cast card are listed from the start. No more writing a Codex entry per character. Write one only for a longer write-up or a picture of its own, and it takes the character's place once published.
  • Your own character is in the Codex too, and in party play so is every player's character.

Journeys

  • Better character galleries, grouped by outfit.
  • New theme: Dusk
  • New One color per character option (beta) for colored dialogue: each character speaks in a color of their own, kept for the whole journey, while your character keeps the accent color. Turn it on in Settings > Text under Color dialogue, or for all your devices in your profile's Play tab. How it works.

World editor

  • Player characters can now be reordered with the up and down arrows on each row, like NPCs. Players see them in that order when picking a character.
  • New Location condition for story beats: fire a beat when the player enters or leaves a place, or require that they are at it alongside another condition (on its own it would fire every turn they stand there). Places inside a location count as being there, so walking from the inn's kitchen to its common room doesn't count as leaving the inn.

World turn image overhaul

  • Turn images are now on for every world: there is no switch to flip anymore, and every new journey can be illustrated. Players can still turn automatic images off for a journey or for their whole account. Journeys already in progress keep the setting their world had.
  • The Turn Images section of the world editor is simpler: the on/off switch and the Art style picker are gone (players are now in control). Image guidance stays.
  • Krea turn images no longer use character portraits as references by default: they had fidelity and realism drift issues. They render about twice as fast in exchange. You can still switch Use character reference images on in a journey's image settings but this might be removed at a later date.
  • The Imagina art style on Krea has been updated.
  • Krea images now cost 10 credits, or 25 when they use character references or a source image (Krea Edit). This applies everywhere Krea renders, turn images included.
  • New Image generator setting in your account (Settings > Content > AI images): the engine your new journeys render their images on. It starts on Krea, and each journey can still switch in its own settings.

Image Lab

  • Krea is cheaper in the Image Lab: 10 credits an image instead of 25, the same as Mirae. Only Reference mode (Krea Edit) still costs 25.
  • The Imagina art style on Krea has been updated for better fidelity at everything, wherever you use it.

General

  • Longcat's promotion price is now permanent

October 4, 2026

Journeys page

  • The Journeys page got a makeover: every journey is now a wide card with the world's background behind it and its full title card on the side. Favourite a journey straight from its card, and sort the list by last played, name or most turns.
  • Journey notes: jot down where you left off or a clue you don't want to forget (Add a note on the card). Notes are private, and the search finds them too.
  • Journey folders: sort your journeys into folders, then drag a card onto a folder or use Move to folder in its menu. Included with Plus and Pro, or with $50 in credit packs.
  • The Your journeys sidebar in the story view can show a single folder, and its search finds notes too.

World editor

  • You can now duplicate your own worlds: Duplicate world in the editor's menu makes a new private draft with the same content and a copy of every image (title card, background, characters and their galleries, locations, maps and extra images). Big, image-heavy worlds can take a little while to copy.
  • Paid world refinements are back. Once your plan's included refinements are used up, Refine with AI charges credits again, after you confirm that the pass is not refundable.
  • New models in Ask Ima: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, GLM 5.3 Flash and Xiaomi MiMo 2.6 Pro (which replaces MiMo 2.5 Pro). Claude Sonnet 5.5 is there too, in a new Expensive group: an answer on it can cost many times more and it needs 500 credits on your account, so the picker asks you to confirm before switching.
  • Ask Ima should work a lot better thanks to many behind-the-scenes fixes: fewer loops, and edits that actually land in your draft. It can also run longer on big edits, and closing the review no longer throws away its proposed changes.
  • Krea Edit is no longer offered in the sprite generator's Consistency menu. Use Qwen Edit to keep the character while changing the pose, with the Restyle pass (now right under Art style) to bring the world's art style back.
  • New Gap button in the formatting toolbar for world descriptions and introductions: it adds a ::break line that puts a fixed space between two lines (repeat it for a bigger gap). Colored callouts in world descriptions also got a bit more breathing room.

General

  • New beta setting Show more character sprites (Settings > Theme, per journey): up to four characters on stage at once, grouped around who's talking. Characters keep their place from turn to turn, slide in from their side when they arrive and fade out when they leave, also when you page back through earlier turns. In a party with your character shown, the players stand on the left and the characters you meet on the right. Click a character half hidden behind another to bring them forward.
  • Animated portraits are now on by default. If you'd rather keep the art still, switch them off for your whole account in your profile settings (Play tab), or for one device in Settings > Theme. They still stay off when your device asks for reduced motion or to save data, or has no GPU.
  • Narration streaming is now on by default: a turn's story appears as it's being written instead of all at once at the end. You can switch it off in your profile settings (Play tab).
  • The Party HUD beta setting is gone: pop the party's stats out of the cast into a floating window instead.
  • The Your journeys sidebar in the story view has a search bar, to find a journey by name.
  • RPG worlds now show each character's starting stats on the character selection screen, even when the world doesn't let you customize them.
  • Fixed: columns hidden in the character sheet (like a skill's Level or Tags) still showed up when editing NPC sheets and in the in-story character editor.

Image Lab

  • Added Seedream 5.0 Flash, the fastest and cheapest Seedream.

Six months of Imagina!

Imagina 6 month anniversary

Hi everyone!

Imagina is six months old, and we wanted to stop for a moment and say thank you.

When we opened the doors in April, we honestly didn't know what you'd make of it. Since then you've started more than 9,000 journeys and played over 150,000 turns. That's a lot of stories that didn't exist six months ago, and we love that so many of them are still going.

A very special thank you to our authors. 194 of you have published 368 worlds, and you're the reason there's always something new waiting on the home page. Every world you share gives everyone else a new place to explore.

To celebrate, everyone who drops by before October 9 gets 300 bonus credits. There's nothing to claim. They're already in your balance. Go start that journey you've been saving for later.

Note: the bonus is only for accounts created before October 3. Accounts created on or after that date don't get it.

Here's to the next six months. We can't wait to see what you come up with.

- Aranom & Naoki

General

  • GPT Image 2.5 can now be forced to do transparency in the Image Lab.
  • Character descriptions (player characters and NPCs) are now limited to 6,000 characters in worlds created from today. Existing worlds, and copies of them, keep no limit.
  • Worlds can now have revenue sharing disabled by moderators. Moderators will explain this if it happens to you (mostly for copyright reasons).
  • Hidden characters (ones a beat brings in later) can now be featured on the world's public cast card with Show in public cast. Their arrival in the story is still held back until they are unlocked, but the card does reveal that they exist, so leave it off for twist characters.

Story beats: your sheets, your rules

Beats just got a lot more hands-on! Your story can now hand out loot, teach skills and track quests on its own, exactly when you want it to, without waiting for the storyteller to remember.

  • Write character sheet row gives, updates or takes away anything on the player's sheet when a beat fires: an item, a skill, a bond, a status, or an entry in one of your own lists like Quests.
  • It works on NPCs too, once the story has met them. Arm your companion with a new sword, or slip the rival a stolen key.
  • On LitRPG worlds, the player sees it happen with a System card like "Item acquired: Moon Key". You can switch the card off per effect.
  • The new Table row condition reads those sheets and your world tables, so a door opens only once the player carries the Moon Key, an NPC reacts when the rival holds it, or a finale waits for a quest's Status to read Done.
  • Table and sheet effects can add to a value instead of replacing it: pay out 50 gold or use up a potion without knowing how many the player has.
  • Rename player character gives the player's character a new name or title. Put it under a player prompt to let them pick it, or build on their name with <<player_name>>. In multiplayer it only renames the host.
  • "Set tracker value" can use <<previous>> for the tracker's current value, so a beat can add to a list (<<previous>>, silver key) instead of replacing it. Values set this way are capped at 2,000 characters, and the oldest text is dropped first.

October 2, 2026

  • Paid world refinements have been disabled. Please use Ask Ima
  • Added a certain new style on Krea. New checkpoint.
  • Tables in Memory now fold and can be filtered. Pin them to keep them beside the story (side panel on desktop, journey menu on mobile), or pop one out into a floating window.
  • The map can be popped out into a floating window of its own, alongside a floating table. Pick the world or an area from its title.
  • Memory, the Storybook, the image gallery and settings now reopen where you left them.
  • Some mobile popups are now swipeable sheets, to make one-handed use easier: pull trackers, Memory, Pins, the Codex and the recap down to close them. Image viewers swipe between pictures, and swipe up or down to close.

Codex (beta)

Worlds now have a Codex: an illustrated encyclopedia of the world's characters, places, factions, species, items and more, written by the creator and readable during play. The storyteller never reads it, so it is purely for players.

  • Codex entries are linked wherever they come up: the first mention in a turn is underlined in the story, and items in your inventory, equipment and world tables show their picture. Tap one for a quick card, or open the full entry.
  • Pin a Codex entry, from the entry or its quick card, to keep it beside the story with your tables, or pop it out into a floating window.
  • Creators can keep entries secret until the journey finds them: by a story beat, when a linked lore entry comes up in the story, or when the player picks up a matching item. The Codex shows how many entries are left to discover, and an entry can announce itself with a "New Codex entry" card.
  • Item art can be square or a transparent cut-out, and shows whole on cards and entries.
  • The entry editor is now a full page with a picture preview, Draft / Spoiler / Secret switches, and a button to link other entries.
  • Table rows can be pinned to a Codex entry in the editor.

Universes might get the Codex at a later date.

Backgrounds

  • New animated and exclusive backgrounds for your journeys, in Settings > Theme. They come with Plus and Pro, or unlock for good once you've bought $50 of credit packs.
  • Save your own custom backgrounds to your account and use them on every device: 10 on Plus and Pro, 5 at $50 of credit packs and 10 at $100.
  • Custom backgrounds can be generated in the Image Lab. Hit "Generate" under Your backgrounds, then "Save as background" on the render you like.

September 30, 2026

What a month <3

  • Reworked the character select screen
  • Worlds can now suggest several first turns.

My Characters

  • Redesigned the My Characters page, and each saved character now has its own page instead of a popup.
  • Saved characters get the same Image & Sprite Gallery as world characters: generate expression sprites, create outfits with their own sprite sets, remove backgrounds, and upload your own images.
  • Your saved character's sprites and outfits now come along when you load them into a world, so they show up on the immersive stage.
  • Galleries hold 5 images on the free plan, 20 on Plus, and 40 on Pro (or once you've bought $100 of credit packs).
  • Fixed a bug where a saved character's gallery and additional appearance were not carried into new journeys.
  • Sprite generation prices are on an temporary introducary discount.

Anti spam

Unfortunately, we've been facing an increase in spam. We've already rolled out some measures, and will iterate over time. Couple changes:

  • Creators can now publish up to 2 new worlds a day. Updates to worlds you already published don't count.
  • "New" infinite scroll will limit the numbers of worlds shown for an author in a certain amount of cards.
  • Some rows will not show worlds with 0 turns.

September 29, 2026

Worlds

  • Added secret maps. Any map (the world map or a location's own map) can be marked secret in Locations: players don't have it until the story hands it over. Give it a "How it's found" line and the narrator will hand it over when the player earns it, or reveal it with the new "Reveal secret map" story beat effect. Optionally, finding a map also reveals every place pinned on it.
  • Trackers can be set to "Revealed later": they stay off the player's sheet until their value first changes, or until the new "Reveal tracker" story beat effect shows them. In LitRPG worlds, "Announce revealed trackers" makes the System announce them.
  • Character select now shows starting stats in the order you listed them, and skips world-level stats every character shares.
  • The "Request player input" story beat effect can now act on the answer. Add effects under "When the player answers" and write <<answer>> in their text to use what the player typed: let the player name a character with "Rename character", put it in the objective, write it to a table, and more.

Journeys

  • Added GPT-6.1 Sol. It will not write explicit scenes (they fade to black), so GPT-6 Sol stays available for those.
  • Hidden character pictures and sprites now unlock in the character's gallery once your story has shown them.
  • Finding a secret map shows a "Map found" card on that turn. Tap it to open the map.

Map found card

I don't think this feature requires much introduction nor explanation: Multiplayer is now out in open beta!

You can now start a journey with friends and play as separate characters. Players can drop in and out without blocking progress, narrator will react to all of your players' interactions, etc. Feedback is very welcome :)

  • Added Xiaomi MiMo 2.6 Flash and Pro as early access models.

  • Memory tweaks, should forget WAY less stuff. Please message the admins on discord or email if this broke something or made turns way more expensive.
  • Tried to make AI less likely to advance a turn without your consent.

Creators

  • New story beat effect: rename a character in the middle of a journey. They keep their portrait, images, outfits, stat block and bond, and the storyteller is told the old name now refers to the new one.

September 19, 2026

General

  • Replying to a comment now notifies the person you replied to, not just the world's creator.
  • World cards show how many comments a world has, and the home has a new "Most talked about" shelf.

  • Ima is now there to help you make your own characters in "My Characters"!

  • You can now pick images from the image lab in some places in the world builder.
  • The image generation popup no longer closes when you click outside of it, so a stray click cannot throw away a generation.
  • To help with regeneration, sprites now store their provenance and generated prompt. Open "Image information" from an image's menu to read it, load those settings back into the sprite generator, or send the image to the Image Lab.
  • Ima is now there to help you generating more parts of your worlds.
  • Sprite generation can now use any gallery image as its reference, not just the portrait. Pick one from the "..." menu on an image, or from the Reference image list in Advanced options.
  • Named instruction blocks can be limited to NSFW journeys or to multiplayer.
  • Copying a character from another world when you already have one by that name now shows what changed (text, portrait, sprites, outfits) and lets you pick what to bring over, instead of adding a second copy. Images that are the same picture in both worlds are left out.

Image Gen

  • Added Qwen Edit to the Visual Novel Sprite generator. It has support for restyling! This allows a Qwen/Krea edit generation to be restyled using Mirae. Costs a bit more, but brings a more coherent style, if you used Mirae to begin with.
  • Introducing Mirae 2 in early access. Not all style are available, and we have yet to settle on one of the few we offer. Styles might be updated or go away at any time.

Creators

  • MCP and Ask Ima are more powerful on your own worlds. When you play a journey on a world you wrote, both can read the world snapshot that journey is actually running on, hidden trackers, beat conditions and unrevealed lore included, so you can work out why something did or did not fire.

  • Your own sheet is editable too: inventory, skills, bonds, status effects and tracker values, from your entry in the Memory panel's cast.

September 4, 2026

  • Turn debug now shows the AI's reasoning steps with tool names visible instead of a generic placeholder.

  • LongCat 2.0 now keeps trackers like XP, gold and bonds up to date instead of forgetting them during play.

Worlds

  • New story beat effect: Alter character description. When a beat fires, it rewrites a character's description or physical appearance for the rest of the journey, or adds on top of it for gradual arcs.
  • New story beat effect: Set character outfit. When the beat fires, the character switches into one of their authored outfits: sprites and the shown outfit name update on the spot, no dice on whether the storyteller remembers.
  • The Lore Map now shows image and outfit counts on character cards, and draws links from beats to the characters they rewrite, amend, or dress.
  • Story beat tracker conditions gain a "does not equal" operator, so word-based trackers can gate beats on "anything but this value" without falling back to numbers. Value comparisons for equals and does-not-equal now ignore case and stray spaces.
  • World editor now shows how your world prompt token count is spent.

August 17, 2026

Journeys

  • Characters who start the story with you now carry their author-written RPG stat block from turn 1. Their level, stats, skills and gear show on their sheet right away, and the storyteller uses those numbers instead of inventing its own. Characters you meet later still reveal their sheet when they first appear.
  • Journeys now follow up to 20 characters at once, up from 10, so worlds with a large cast stop dropping people before you meet them.

Worlds

  • Introducing outfits on player characters and NPCs.

  • LongCat 2.0's discount is now 40% off, running until August 24.
  • The thinking level setting now offers Medium on models that think more than that, instead of only Low. GPT-5.6 Luna now thinks harder by default, and can be turned down to Medium or Low.

Worlds

  • World comments now show a quill next to the creator's name, so you can tell which comments come from the author.

August 10, 2026

Creators

  • Creator analytics now leaves your own playtesting out of your numbers, so players and turns describe how other people play your world.

More journey & character slots

  • Subscribers now get more slots: Silver raises the caps to 25 journeys and 15 saved characters, Gold to 50 and 35 (up from 15 and 5 on Free).
  • Credit packs count too: $50 of lifetime purchases permanently unlocks the Silver-level slots, $100 unlocks the Gold-level ones. Track your progress in the new Supporter perks section on the credits page.
  • When your journey limit has been reached, older ones can be deleted to free up a slot right there, without having to go back to the journey list.

Image Lab

  • Image Lab is out for everyone in beta! Make your own images with full control using the new full page image generator.

Creators

  • Locations can now be reordered in the world editor. Sublocations stay grouped and move together with their parent location.
  • Fixed the refiner's review screen crashing when the AI returned a field in the wrong format. Those changes are now flagged as "wrong format" and left unticked, so you can still accept the rest of the refinement.

August 5, 2026

Journeys

  • DeepSeek V4 Flash has been updated to a newer build, and its cached input price is now shown correctly in the model picker.
  • The LongCat 80% off promo is extended until August 16. It stays the default model until then.

August 4, 2026

Journeys

  • Fixed hidden trackers sometimes popping up in the status sheet mid-journey. If a world's creator marked a tracker as hidden, it now stays hidden when story events update it.

July 31, 2026

Journeys

  • Added GPT-5.6 Luna to the model picker.
  • Added GPT Image to the "Generate image" picker. It takes your NPCs' portraits as references, keeping characters recognizable from image to image.
  • Journey memory now also reads your steering and narrative rules, so advanced players can tell the AI what to remember long-term.

Creators

  • Worlds tagged 1-on-1 now unlock immersive mode with a single sprited character, instead of two.
  • Character appearance fields in the world editor now have length limits, matching the ones on Custom Characters. To compensate, the existing limits have been raised by a lot. This fixes players being unable to customize characters on worlds with long appearance descriptions.

July 30, 2026

Journeys

  • Added support for per-model custom prompts.

July 29, 2026

Creators

  • Improved how NPC descriptions are rendered to the model, improving adherence.
  • Added NPC description templates.
  • Reworked how the refiner works. It should be much faster on complex worlds, and less prone to failure.

Journeys

  • The AI now remembers the tracker changes it made on the previous turn a bit better, so things like currency or health should no longer get double-charged when a change spans two turns.

Creators

  • AI refinements that fail because of a provider error no longer count toward the hourly generation limit.

July 26, 2026

Creators

  • The AI now treats your locations' "Getting there" notes as canon: authored travel times and distances are used as written instead of improvised.

July 25, 2026

Creators

  • Added Hidden Truths on NPCs: stuff only the AI knows.
  • You can now copy NPCs, locations, and lore book entries from your other worlds. Look for the arrow next to the "Add" buttons in the world editor. Locations and lore can be copied in bulk.

  • Added new Krea styles.

July 21, 2026

Journeys

  • LongCat is 80% off for two weeks! It is temporarily the default model.
  • Xiaomi MiMo 2.5 is back in the model picker. It will be a bit more expensive than before: we still recommend MiMo 2.5 Pro.
  • Massively improved the AI's number crunching in RPG and LitRPG worlds: dice checks, stat changes, and point spending are now computed and validated by the game engine instead of trusted to the narrator's mental math.
  • Added Krea as an image model.
  • Added Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash lite.

Creators

  • Added dice crit gates: dice worlds can set a critical margin, and checks that beat (or miss) the difficulty by at least that much resolve as critical successes (or failures).
  • Introducing Shoutouts: You can now showcase worlds from other creators on your creator page!
  • New "Custom pose" option in the sprite generator: write your own pose and expression instead of picking a preset emotion.
  • Added crop detection on world cards, so that crops of any kind center on your card's point of interest. Moderators can adjust crops on request.
  • The art style picker in image generators is now more graphically explicit: each style shows a preview image of its look right in the dropdown.
  • You can now share readonly versions of your world's details to persons you trust. Shared links can be revoked.

July 19, 2026

Journeys

  • New setting: "Hide suggested actions by default". Turn it on in your profile settings to start new journeys with the AI's suggested action buttons hidden, so you write your own actions from the start. You can still show or hide them per journey from the in-game settings.
  • Generating or regenerating a turn image now opens a picker where you choose the image generator (Mirae, Nomi, or Nano Banana 2 Flash) and an art style (Anime, Manga, or Realistic), remembered for the journey. Regenerating an NPC portrait uses the same picker and can reuse the current portrait as a reference so the character keeps their look.

Creators

  • Fixed an issue where the world generator would fail at RPG/LitRPG stat sheets.
  • The introduction editor now has a formatting toolbar: markdown basics, text effects, layout blocks, and an "Insert image" button that drops one of your Extra Images right into the opening text.

July 18, 2026

Creators

  • New LGBTQ+ tag: tag your worlds with it so players can find them when filtering by genre.
  • You can now reorder NPCs in the world editor: use the up and down arrows on each NPC row to arrange your cast in the order you want.
  • Character and NPC portraits now have a "Remove background" button, just like sprites: pick a matting method and save the transparent cutout. The original image is kept.
  • New sprite consistency option "Replace the face only": it keeps the portrait untouched and regenerates just the face for each expression, so the body, outfit, and hair stay identical.

July 17, 2026

Journeys

  • The @-mention list in the play input now shows each character's portrait next to their name, so you can spot who you are tagging at a glance.
  • Your character's "Current appearance" is now collapsed by default on the character card, so the sheet stays tidy. Tap the label to expand it when you want the details.

Creators

  • Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default world generation model: same quality tier as before, noticeably faster and cheaper. Gemini 3.1 Pro stays available in the picker.
  • Kimi K2.7 Code is now available as a world generation model. It writes the best worlds of any generator we offer (big casts, detailed trackers, inspired prose) but it is extremely slow: a full world can take up to ten minutes.
  • New NPC option "Present at start": mark the companions and party members who are on-scene at the opening and they will show in the player's character list from turn 1, instead of waiting to be introduced. Leave it off for characters the story should reveal later, so secrets are not spoiled.

July 16, 2026

Two big changes to the world editor & journeys today!

Immersive mode has received a huge upgrade:

  • Outfit system! Can also be used for variations: wounded, aged up. Example: Your character receives a transformation mid game following a huge reveal and their hair color changes: the sprites can now reflect that.
  • Massively improved the NPC gallery image generator. It can now generate images from a reference one, copy resemblance (SDXL models only), optional pose control (rather than letting the model go wild, we made reference poses that will be randomly used). Full body shots can now be generated in bulk and will be appropriately cropped by the journey player. We will keep working on this.
  • The player character can optionally be shown
  • Player character can be displayed as a story moment

Texting:

  • World authors can now enable a texting UI mid turn. This allows for more immersion in modern settings (or MMOs).

Detailed changelog:

Journeys

  • Moments can now use player character art, not just NPCs. Creators: expose gallery images on a player character to enable this.
  • Player Characters can now optionally appear in Immersive mode. Enable "Show your character on stage" in the journey settings (needs sprite images on the character). Creators can set the default for their world.

Creators

  • Introduced character looks: galleries will now signal them. You can have aged up images, multiple outfits, etc.
  • Sprite generation advanced options are now available to every creator: derive sprites from a reference image (the character's portrait or a custom upload), control the pose, and generate full-body versions of your sprites in bulk.

Worlds

  • Added a 'netori-kei' tag. Remember that tags don't only help you find content, they can help you hide it :)

July 15, 2026

Creators

  • New "Scale" tracker type: show a ranked status as a labeled bar with a neutral middle, for things like Reputation, a mood, or how an NPC feels about the player (for example Hostile, Cold, Neutral, Warm, Devoted). The storyteller moves it up or down as the story goes.

Worlds

  • Renamed the "Solo Character" tag to "1-on-1" so it reads more clearly at a glance.

July 14, 2026

Journeys

  • When the sidebar is open, you will see if your other journeys are loading or have finished their turn.

  • Added more ordering options in the full world list.

Journeys

  • Improved how authored character stats are loaded into a journey: the storyteller now uses the exact stat block the world's author wrote instead of improvising its own.
  • Improved OOC support: the storyteller now understands out-of-character notes written in your action, like "OOC:", "(ooc: ...)" or "((...))". It applies them without breaking the scene, and remembers lasting preferences.
  • Improved how the NPC stat sheet is exposed to the AI.
  • Reduced thinking panics on multiple models.
  • Recap now shows the world you're playing.

Creators

Introducing the Creator Portal! Find it by clicking "Create" in the navigation bar.

Added a experimental omake ending generator for your chapters. Generate it from the storybook from any chapter! You can also type /omake in the play area. Uses about 100 credits. Note: this is a beta feature, we're not even sure it's the right place to expose it. But we found it so fun that we decided to just release it for everybody as a fun easter egg. Enjoy!

You now have two credits storage:

  • Credits: this is where your bought and earned (refferal, gifts) credits go.
  • Free credits: this replaces the free turn system. Log in every day to get free credits. They do not expire, but they're limited: spend them before you reach the max!

A credit streak system is also in place, after your fourth consecutive daily login you will get more credits. Limits and pool refill rate will probably evolve as we tune the system.

Default model is now Xiaomi MiMo 2.5

  • MiMo model tweaks
  • LitRPG fixes: system cards are now properly displayed mid turn on all models

June 24, 2026

Worlds

Added a button to preview the rendered markdown for world Introduction World introductions now support a LOT more markdown instructions and extensions

Journeys

Improved player character image rendering

June 23, 2026

Journeys

Improved the reliability of System cards in RPG worlds, so new skills and abilities show up consistently.

June 21, 2026

World builder

Story beats that update the objective can now show a "New Objective" notification to players.

June 20, 2026

Journeys

Can't quite remember a NPCs' name? Type "@" and known NPCs will show up in a list. Press enter to accept a suggestion, or escape to dismiss.

June 18, 2026

Journeys

When a newer version of a world is available, the update prompt now shows the author's notes for what changed, so you can judge whether it is safe to update an in-progress journey before pulling it in.

Worlds

The community worlds filters now include an NSFW toggle, so you can show only NSFW worlds or hide them, just like the tag filters.

June 17, 2026

Journeys

Character sheet entries can now be hidden, so secret items, skills, or bonds stay off your sheet.

Added an experimental "relaxed thinking" toggle.

New model picker!

Massively improved memory recall.

Worlds

Cast pictures can now be zoomed in the world cards.

June 16, 2026

Models

The model picker now uses real names (like DeepSeek V4 Pro).

World builder

Custom guidance in a world's Outcome System now adds to the built-in outcome rules instead of replacing them. Before, whatever you wrote there quietly took over the whole section, so a short note like "lean forgiving, cozy story" could leave the narrator without its Success, Partial, Failure, and Neutral definitions. Now your guidance sits on top of the defaults, so a sentence or two is enough to steer how forgiving or harsh outcomes feel. We also renamed the field to "Custom guidance" and updated its help text to match.

Outcome Bias now applies occasionally instead of on every turn, so the hidden luck value reads as the odd swing of fortune rather than constant background noise. You can still turn it off entirely in the Outcome System panel.

June 15, 2026

Solo characters

Solo characters now have their own Title, separate from the character's name. Give the same character a few different starting scenarios (like "Luna at the Cafe" and "Luna on the Night Train") without renaming the character itself.

My Characters

You can now upload your own portrait for a saved character instead of generating one. Pick an image, crop it, and it becomes your portrait when you load that character into a world. You can also remove a portrait to go back to the default avatar.

Journeys

Player skill cards now show their tags and descriptions, authored characters keep their preset skill moves during play, and the table options you define are respected.

Narration rules you add yourself now stay put. They show a small marker and the AI can no longer change or remove them, so your standing directions stick for the whole journey.

Fixed a bug where the trackers and character panels could go off screen.

NPC character sheets now keep their Bonds row meaningful: a bond always points at a real character you are tracking (the player or another known NPC) with a relationship tier, instead of occasionally filling up with stray or nonsensical text.

June 14, 2026

Customize your starting stats

On RPG and LitRPG worlds, you can now tweak your character's starting stats before a journey begins, right from the character screen. World authors decide whether to allow it, so it only appears on worlds where they have turned it on. Creators, you have three modes: Off, Stats (capped), Full sheet. Off and Full sheet are pretty self explanatory, but Stats is like a RPG character creation with a fixed amount of points to allocate.

RPG & LitRPG for everyone!

The wait is over: RPG and LitRPG authoring is out of beta and open to all creators. No more waitlist, no flag to request. Hop into the world builder, flip on the Game System, and start tracking stats, levels, items, and dice for your worlds. We can't wait to see what you build!

Notification System

Pretty self explanatory! For now, this is used to get notified of when the creators you follow release a new world or update one.

Journeys

  • You can now rename a journey from the play screen.
  • Journeys can now be updated to a worlds latest version. As a reminder, the world is copied when you start your journey, and frozen. With the new debug pane, you can either refresh the current version or upgarde to a new one. No downgrades though.
  • Fixed Safari display issues
  • Regenerated turns are now historized! Go back and forth between variants. Be careful, once you play a new turn, the other variants are deleted!

World builder

  • Text fields in the world editor and character cards now show a live character counter, so you can see the limit before you hit it.
  • Updated image models.

June 13, 2026

NSFW instructions for non-explicit worlds

Authors can now give a non-explicit world optional NSFW instructions that only steer the story for players who have NSFW enabled, leaving the experience untouched for everyone else.

Refferal program!

We feel like Imagina is in a very good state now, but makreting is not our strongest suit. So, we're asking the community and giving back :)

We've launched a referral system so you can invite friends to play:

  • Referees get an immediate 500 credits upon signup.
  • Referrers get a 100-credit activation bonus (after the referee plays their first turn) plus a 2% lifetime revenue share on all their credit purchases (excluding subscriptions if we ever do theem).
  • Check out the brand new referrals page on your account menu!

June 12, 2026

RPG & LitRPG support

We're very proud to announce that LitRPG support is now in beta. Imagina can now track attributes, stats, items, or basically ANYTHING you want it to.

In LitRPG mode you will see additional immersive UI in the middle of the turns. All of this comes together with our new Location support, PC/NPC images in tracker view, etc. A lot of images are required from authors, but we have free Mirae in the world builder EXACTLY for this purpose!

Worlds have to turn on RPG/LitRPG support. Access is gated to testers for the time being, but send us an email or dm on discord to get access! Any user can play a LitRPG enabled world.

We can't wait to see what you're gonna make with this

PS: We're not done yet, referrals, subscriptions, facelift... A lot more is coming very soon :)

June 11, 2026

World pages

World cards got a full redesign:

  • Cinematic header with the world's art, bigger title. Add art to your world to make your card pop!
  • New cast section: playable characters, plus characters the author chooses to feature ("Show in public cast" in the editor, secret characters stay secret)
  • Feature chips showing how a world plays (dice rolls, illustrated scenes, story endings, etc.)
  • A creator card with the author's banner, avatar, and bio
  • Public world pages now use the world's art as a full page backdrop
  • World pages show more worlds from the same author

Locations level up!

We gave the Loom engine's location system a massive upgrade. Locations are now a real narrative tool, not just a memory aid:

  • Pick a starting location: the journey opens there, anchored from turn 1.
  • Locations can carry a hidden detail: a secret the narrator knows but won't reveal until the story earns it.
  • Nest locations inside each other ("The Bramble" sits in "Hollowmere Forest"). The AI gets the parent as context whenever the scene is there. One level deep, on purpose.
  • Tell the AI who's usually here and how to get there. Familiar places get familiar faces, and the story stops teleporting across the map.
  • The location pool grew from 12 to 25, shared with the places the AI discovers on its own. The editor counts your slots for you.
  • Location rows now preview the exact one-liner the AI sees in its catalog. Put the important detail in the first sentence!
  • Fixed AI refinement dropping location author notes.

And the part we're most excited about: location images.

  • Give any location a landscape image, uploaded or generated, same flow as world backgrounds.
  • Worlds can show a scene transition card when the story moves somewhere new. Looks great, on by default for new worlds, and you can turn cards off for yourself in Settings.
  • Worlds can also opt into location backdrops: the play background becomes the current location's image as you move through the story. Prefer your own background? There's a setting to keep it.
  • AI world generation now creates location images automatically, like it already did for portraits. On existing worlds, one "Generate missing images" button fills all the gaps.

World authors also get a full locations view in the journey debugger's State tab.

Journeys

  • The screen where you pick your character before starting a journey got a full redesign: world art in the background, a character selector with portrait thumbnails, and the selected character's full portrait shown next to their description (no more cropped images on mobile).
  • Rebuilt the gameplay settings panel into a new tabbed layout.
  • Added a gallery of built-in play-view backgrounds (Classroom, Enchanted forest, Dungeon, Tavern, Castle hall, Neon city, Starship, and Beach sunset).
  • Added a live font-selection dropdown preview.
  • The cast you've met now lives in the character menu (tap your character at the top of a journey). You'll see your own portrait and details first, then everyone you've met below. Every character you've met shows up. Tap anyone for a closer look and a quick reminder of who they are.
  • You can regenerate any character's portrait from that menu to match how they look right now in the story. The little coin on the button means it spends a credit. Changed your mind, or want the author's version back? Revert to default anytime. Works for your own character and the cast you've met.

Models

  • Added GLM 5.1
  • Made Kimi more reliable

June 10, 2026

World builder & profile

  • Fixed the image cropper (world images, portraits, avatars, banners): the selection no longer opens with a wrong shape that spills past the image, and an image that already has the right dimensions is fully selected by default.
  • The NPC Game System sheet in the world builder now has inline help (the ? glyphs) explaining what the Attributes and Skills boxes are and how to fill them.

June 9, 2026

Journeys

We worked hard on improving the experience on slow models

  • A progress bar now appears after a while, informing you of progress
  • Animations have been added, showing when the model is thinking. If it's stuck, nothing will animate. Otherwise, hang on, it's on its way!
  • Streaming resume! If you reload the page while a turn is being generated, you won't have to wait for the complete generation. Streaming will be resumed as it should be.

World authors will also notice much better debugging

  • Turn history now show model reasoning, triggered beats, revealed secrets, out/in/reasoning tokens, etc.
  • Players will not see most of those improvement unless playing their own worlds, so that they don't reveal the design.

Misc:

  • Ask the narrator now doesn't close when clicked outside of the popup.

June 8, 2026

Characters

Introduced a few facilities for solo characters (worlds where the objective is a simple setting and a single NPC):

  • Simplified world builder for 1:1 scenarios
  • Added Saved Characters: players can save their own character definition and load them in world that allow NPC customization
  • World builders can force character customization, asking users to fill the sheet before starting. This is useful for worlds that encourage self inserts

Solo Characters and Customized characters are still not the focus of Imagina. They are not chatbots either, they are still world with trackers, etc.

Journeys

  • New Ask the Storyteller button while you play: break the fourth wall and ask the Storyteller a question, off the record. Get a recap, ask who's who, why a character is acting like that, or where things are heading. It won't change your journey (but it can spoil what's coming).

Home

  • Brand new tag picker, which massively cleans up the UI. NSFW worlds are now shown by default if you turned this on your account.
  • Reordered navigation into a dropdown in the main menu.

World

  • Added macro support linesn more fields.
  • Added {{user}} macro.
  • The Loom engine is now aware of PC and NPC age and can update it. Age is freeform on NPCs so you can say "unknown", "ancient", "immortal".

June 7, 2026

Author pages

Author pages are here! They are accessible via a stable URL that you can share.

Authors can write a bio, set an avatar and upload a banner. Worlds can be showcased.

Other users can follow the authors. For now, this doesn't send any notification, but we'll work on that soon!

We will keep improving them in the next weeks.

Image Generation

We cleaned up the image generation:

  • For world creation, we removed some redundant Illustrious models, cleaned up the picker and added multiple Mirae based ones.
  • Worlds using image gen can now configure a wanted style, which uses different Mirae LoRAs and checkpoints.

We're very excited about this as Mirae can be prompted in natural language AND booru tags. This makes image generation in journeys much better and less random. We're also hosting this ourselves, meaning that no cloud provider knows about your generations. In exchange this means that this can sometimes be down.

Journeys

  • The output language picker now has an explicit English option, so you can force English narration even when a world was authored in another language.

Worlds

  • AI World generation now generates portraits for the world's NPCs and player characters automatically.
  • The {{user}} macro now works as an alias for <<player_name>>, and in many more fields (NPCs, trackers, endings, intro, and more), so character cards brought over from other apps keep addressing the player by name.
  • New Clock tracker type: the engine advances it by 1 every turn on its own and the AI can only reset it, so you can gate a story beat to fire after a set number of turns (for example, exhaustion after several turns without rest).

June 6, 2026

Journeys

Introducing a "new" model: Mantle Lumen!

  • You can now pin the trackers popup to keep it docked as a sidebar while you play.
  • Starting a journey no longer auto-plays the first turn for you. You land on the intro and either tap the Suggested first turn or write your own.

Worlds

  • More Lore Entries options! Lore can now be "secret", which does NOT give any hint to the narrator about its existence until a story beat reveals it. It then acts as a standard lore entry.
  • Trackers can now show as bars, stat tiles, or plain numbers instead of just text.
  • The world editor now shows a rough estimate of how many tokens its prompt and opening turn use.
  • The "Review story with AI" tool got a big cleanup: Feedback now comes back as collapsible sections tagged High/Medium/Low, so it's easier to read. You can copy the whole thing as Markdown. There's also a new box in the advanced options where you paste a design brief, and the AI tells you everywhere your world drifts from what you had in mind.
  • Story beats have a new "Match any of (OR group)" condition: bundle several conditions so the beat fires when any one of them is true, instead of needing every condition to match. Handy for gates like "Wisdom or Intellect is high enough".

June 2, 2026

Journeys

  • Improved clothes handling in the image generator.
  • It is now possible for players to enable Mature/NSFW themes on non NSFW worlds.
  • Added a clothing system to PC/NPCs for better image generation. Their clothing is stored separatly from their appearance.

Worlds

  • Added Solo Character tag.
  • It is now possible to force users to customize the character before starting. This is in preparation for support for user made personas.
  • Added an additional field on PCs and NPCs to give a natural description and/or booru tags to your character appearance. If you're familiar with them, this helps with consistency. The structured appearance is still the best way to give PCs a consistent generation.
  • Added an option to generate shorter narration.
  • NPCs now have an optional "Example dialogue" field. Drop in a few lines a character would actually say, and the AI uses them to lock in their voice (cadence, vocabulary, attitude, verbal tics).

May 31, 2026

Journeys

You can now pick between 3 fonts: Standard, Serif, Monospaced.

May 29, 2026

Journeys

Added a sidebar on the journey play area, to easily switch between journeys without going back home.

Turn edition! You can now edit the reply the AI wrote. Only the last turn is editable, rollback or fork if you want to edit a previous one.

May 27, 2026

Models

We added back Xiaomi MiMo Pro as we managed to get it to work. Our default model has been Gemini 3.1 Flash since the beginning, but unfortunately Google made 3.5 too expensive for the quality. To prepare for 3.1's removal, we did a couple of things:

  • Make the engine massively more reliable with Claude Haiku, Deepseek v4 models and Xiaomi MiMo
  • Made DS4 pro the default engine.

Unfortunately the side effect is that games are much slower to play using DS4. But we believe that the very small cost more than makes up for it.

We hope that it's the last time we have to do that. Our goal is still to have a great experience using community finetunes that will not go away.

Engine improvement

  • World creators can now use five new beat effect types: replace an additional instruction block, change the journey objective, change narration style, present a forced choice to the player, and request specific player input. Phew!
  • Expanded macro support to lorebook and story beats. Also added new macros: <<player_name>>, <<turn_number>>, <tracker:Name>
  • The turn debugger now shows which creative nudge was injected into each turn's prompt.

We now have a Victory/Defeat system! Add your conditions and the game will resolve itself once met. Players can decide to continue the game. There is also an "ending" concept where you can define multiple Good/Bad endings.

May 24, 2026

Enter key behavior

A new "Hybrid" mode is now the default: Enter sends on desktop, but not on mobile (where accidental taps are common). You can switch to "always Enter sends" or "always Shift+Enter sends" in Settings.

Suggestions

You can now tap multiple suggestions to combine them, then tap the last one again to send. No need to manually hit Send after building up your action.

Home improvements

The home layout has been tweaked:

  • The top bar looks much cleaner
  • Uses desktop wide screens better
  • Much, much improved mobile experience

Hope you like it!

May 23, 2026

World copying

You can now copy worlds for those who enabled this option! This allows you to edit worlds and add your own twist on them. Lineage is recorded so we will be able to make a better UX in the future, showing where a world comes from and credit the original author(s).

Image gallery

You can now browse all AI-generated images from your journey in one place. Look for the photo icon in the top bar (or "Image gallery" in the menu on mobile).

Models

As Delve Lumen's low cost is now permanent, is has now been promoted as a recommended model and is eligible for free turns. Delve Spark is now hidden: games using it will continue to work, but it didn't make sense to keep a weaker model when the better one is quite cheap.

Image generation

You can now manually ask for an image generation using the "..." button on AI turns.

World Editor

Couple of improvements:

  • Added "author notes" in some places. That's for you, world builders!

  • Added global trackers, so that you don't have to duplicate them between all of your NPCs

  • Moved stuff around and improved mobile support again

  • Added a story audit feature where an AI gives you input about how your well story uses the engine and incoherences. Very early beta, free to use!

  • Bug fixes for world generation with Claude. For the time being, Gemini is the default world generator.

Engine

A few new authoring tools for Loom worlds:

  • Story beats can now set or retire a tracker when they fire, with the engine writing the value directly so you don't have to hope the AI updates it later.
  • Beat groups let you list a few beats together so the engine picks exactly one per journey. This is great when the same setup has multiple possible truths, like an abandoned house that's either haunted, a research site, or a cult holding ground, where each playthrough reveals a different one.
  • Settings can now be linked to a starting tracker, so the player's choice gets written into the tracker and beats can gate on it from there.
  • Trackers can be marked readonly, which means the AI can't add, update, or retire them. Useful for setup choices that have to stay fixed all journey, like which pill the player drew or which class they picked.

Misc

As the credit pricing model seems to turn off a lot of people, we added a button to show interest in a subscription model.

May 21, 2026

World Editor

The world editor's UI has been rethought on mobiles:

  • Removed the sticky header (it's now in a drawer)
  • Added a drawer for the sidebar, so you can quickly jump between sections
  • Added a fullscreen button near all inputs to focus on them
  • Made inputs taller by default
  • Removed accordion style inputs (like lorebook, characters) in favor of modals
  • Grealy reduced or removed padding on mobile

Desktop users got a couple of benefits from this too.

But the most important information is that world edition is now possible on phones, even small ones!

May 20, 2026

Locations

Worlds can now define known locations! When location tracking is enabled, the engine will read pre-made locations from the world definition and will be able to dynamically create or update locations for better story consistency.

Location tracking is enabled by default on new worlds.

New model

Gemini 3.5 Flash is available for texting. While it's much faster than Gemini 3 Flash, it's 2.5x more expensive in our testing. We're evaluating which model should become the default, as we believe that Google will soon stop supporting the current one.

Misc

  • The image generation feature is being improved slowly. We're still trying to make it work on SDXL based tech as it's the most cost effective.
  • Animated world covers (beta). Some worlds can have animated cover art. This can be disabled in your profile settings.

May 12, 2026

World share codes

Every published world now has a short share code (e.g. K3M-JP2) for easier sharing.

May 11, 2026

Loom: A rewrite of Imagina's engine

While Imagina's Spark engine has served us well during this beta period, it had a couple of limitations due to its architecture.

Loom is a rewrite that turns Imagina into an agentic story teller, where the AI can decide to loop and do work before writing the narration. This work includes consulting the world definition, past turns, check on past and present NPCs, etc.

This unlocks new possibilities for Imagina:

  • Turn generation is shorter
  • Games can get more complex as the AI can load references to the world definition, lore and past NPCs
  • Way better NPC tracking past 20 turns
  • AI can now remember something that specifically happened in a previous turn even if it was 90 turns ago
  • For big worlds, costs went down
  • And finally: More model choices

We initially thought that this would be too costly to run, but we managed to optimize it enough to make it worth it.

More model choice is what we believe is the best outcome. The new engine now supports models like Xiaomi's, DeepSeek and in the future community fine-tunes of smaller models. For you, this means that you will have more choice in what AI models are available: broader range of tone/behaviour and cost ranges!

This brings us even closer to our ultimate goal of breaking free of the big cloud providers and hosting our own models. No more surprise deprecation, no more tone change or storyteller you like going away.

While we will continue to support Spark for a while, after the initial Loom test ends all worlds will use it by default. This is the version we will iterate on from now on. To celebrate, we bumped the number of daily free turns from 2 to 3, passing the cost savings to you!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

May 10, 2026

New welcome experience for new users

April 30, 2026

Edit/Replay a player turn

Each player action bubble now has its own ⋮ menu with Edit/Replay this turn. Choose it on any past turn and the story rewinds to right before that action: subsequent turns are deleted, and the action and steering fields are repopulated with what you wrote, ready for you to tweak the wording (or change your mind entirely) and resubmit. A confirmation dialog explains what will happen before anything is deleted.

The existing rollback option on AI narrations was renamed to Resume story from after this point so it reads more like what it actually does.

April 25, 2026

Better-looking generated images

Reworked how prompts are built for the SDXL anime image models (Nova Anime XL, WAI Illustrious SDXL, CyberRealistic XL). Turn images, character portraits, world title cards, and editor backgrounds now run through a shared post-processor that injects a polished quality stack and a long anti-failure negative bundle on every generation. The most visible improvement: skin no longer drifts into the milky wax / melted plastic look that occasionally appeared on close-up shots. Other recurring artifacts (rainbow hair, stray extra figures, deformed hands, watermark text) are also suppressed automatically.

When a moment intentionally calls for wet skin (rain, hot spring, a sweaty intimate scene) the anti-oil bundle steps aside so the image actually looks wet. Mirror shots now get the right tag combination so the character interacts with the mirror instead of treating it as background decor. Group shots with three or more named characters fall back to a tight close-up of the most iconic subject or a peopleless scene shot of the location, since SDXL cannot reliably render that many bodies in one frame and was producing fused-limb images in those cases.

Faster shared world links

Shared world links (/world/<id>) now arrive with the world preview, name, description, tags, content warning, and portrait already in the page rather than waiting for the app to fetch them after load. Search engines and link previews see the actual world copy instead of an empty shell, and the page feels snappier on a cold open.

April 21, 2026

Daily free turns

Every account now gets a small pool of free turns each day, usable on most models (the premium Astral Lumen tier still costs credits). Free turns reset at midnight UTC and are consumed automatically before your credit balance whenever you play an eligible model. The credits popover in the play header now shows "Free turns remaining" alongside your balance, and entries in your turn history are marked when they were covered by a free turn.

If you're on a model that doesn't accept free turns and run out of credits, sending an action will offer to switch to a free-turn eligible model instead of failing.

Portrait history

Every journey character now remembers each portrait you've generated. Open the character menu and click Portrait history to scroll through every portrait, with the turn it was made on and when, and tap any image to view it full screen. The one currently shown in the character sheet is marked Current.

Portrait turn tag

The character sheet and fullscreen portrait viewer now show which turn your portrait was generated on, so it's easier to tell when an older image no longer matches the story.

Rolling back a journey now also rolls back any portraits generated on the discarded turns. If you had the right portrait before a rollback, you'll need to generate a new one, or the previous journey-wide portrait (if any) resurfaces.

April 20, 2026

First world generation on the house

Every account now gets one free world generation. Head to the world editor, describe a concept, and your first generation runs without costing any credits. A note on the generation panel will remind you while the freebie is still available, then disappear after you've used it.

April 19, 2026

Journey: generate a character portrait

When AI-generated turn images are enabled on your Profile, open the character menu in the play header (your character name) and use Generate portrait to create a portrait from your appearance. Credits apply like other image generation.

Admin: open a player journey in the play view

From Admin → Game debug, Open in Player now loads that journey correctly. The play UI is read-only for another user’s game (no actions, branching, rollback, model change, or credit shortcuts). Debug and export still work.

World editor: reorder story beat conditions

In Story Beats, condition rows now have move up / move down controls so you can change evaluation order (conditions still combine with AND semantics).

Story beats replace the clock

Worlds can now drive pacing with story beats: authored cues like "the storm finally breaks", "the rival makes her move", or "someone notices the player's pendant". The engine evaluates beats every turn — some fire on their own when their conditions match (turn count, tracker values, after another beat, a chance roll), others stay armed and let the AI decide when the moment lands. Fired beats can drop a one-shot nudge into the current turn or quietly add lasting context the AI carries forward.

You don't have to do anything — beats just show up in the story when their world uses them.

World authors will find a new Story Beats section in the world editor where the old Clock / Time lived. The clock system has been retired; existing worlds keep loading, and you can rebuild any timing rules as beats with the new condition kinds.

Turn images are here (beta)

Worlds can now illustrate their biggest story moments: first meetings, dramatic reveals, scene changes. The AI picks when. Character-focused shots float beside the narrative, wider scenes sit above it. Each image costs about 7 credits on top of the turn.

You stay in control. Turn images off for every journey on your Profile, or disable them just for the journey you're in from in-game Settings.

World authors can opt in from the world editor under Advanced Features → Turn Images, add optional guidance for the AI, and tune how often images appear.

Full details in the help article.

April 17, 2026

  • Changed how copied worlds work: Clicking Copy on a world now opens a short confirmation that points you at favoriting first if that is really what you want. Copied worlds show "Original world X by Author" under the title and always credit the original creator, even when you copy a copy of a copy.
  • Builder pane for world authors: When you play a journey on a world you authored, the debug panel gains a new Builder tab. From there you can jump to the editor in a new tab, refresh the version list, and reload the journey with any draft or published version of the same world, without starting over. Structural changes can still break the story, so a confirmation spells out the trade off and offers to start a fresh journey instead.

April 15, 2026

  • Sign-in page: Signing in with an email that has no account now takes you straight to the sign-up form with a message explaining no account was found. The sign-up form has a new confirm-password field, and all inputs lock while a request is in flight.
  • World editor: Fixed a bug where accepting an AI-generated character portrait could silently drop the image when using a booru-tags image model.

April 12, 2026

  • Background world generation emails: Fixed an issue where the "your world is ready" email could fail to send after you closed the editor tab during generation.
  • Text effects in stories: The AI can use eight visual effects in its narration, grouped into three categories: Mystical (glow, burn, void), Subtle (whisper, shaky), and Digital (glitch, flicker, static). Effects can be combined with bold/italic, and the AI can pick custom colours to match the scene. World authors can enable or disable each category in the world editor to match their world's tone. You can toggle effects in Settings (Auto / On / Off), and they respect your system's reduced-motion preference.
  • Slash commands: Type / in the action input to see available commands. /retry re-generates the last turn, /undo rolls it back, /steer <text> pre-fills the steering box, /1 through /4 quickly pick a suggested action, and /debug toggles the debug panel.
  • Shareable world links: Worlds now have clean URLs (/world/:id) you can copy straight from the address bar. Social previews (Discord, Twitter, etc.) show the world's portrait, name, and description.
